Transformation Comes from Within

Transformation Comes from Within

  • What are your organization’s Mission? Vision? And Values?
  • Do your employees know them? Do they believe in them? Do they guide behavior?
  • Are they tied to performance? And experienced by your customers? Daily?

There Is A Distressing Disconnect Within Most Corporations Today

Two thirds of employees across the U.S. are not fully engaged in their work. Research has recognized this for more than a generation.

While there are many reasons why, the primary reason is that organizations are not fully engaged with their employees.

  • Passive “mission, vision and values” statements provide limited connectivity to the workforce. Employees are left to do their jobs as best they can - without connecting to the organization’s greater purpose and with little support and recognition.
  • When traditional training takes place, it addresses specific job functions - with little meaningful context - and is often a stand-alone event with no last impact.
  • Branding efforts most often appear in the form of advertising campaigns and provide yet another layer of ambiguity. The organization communicates through jingles and slogans with the customer on the outside, but not with the employee in a meaningful way.
  • Millennials and Generation Z employees, who will account for half of the workforce by 2020 and 75% by 2025, value purpose driven organizations far more than previous generations.

The net effect of a disconnected purpose is reduced employee engagement, lower job satisfaction and lost productivity. Collectively, this greatly compromises the customer experience, bottom line and overall performance.

What Can We Help You Do About It?

Under the SHR Transformation Branding banner we've come together with a common vision and formed an alliance of three companies and a number of industry specific experts to integrate our independent solutions into one wholistic offering; it is a very exciting new concept. At the heart of the alliance are SHR, WTRI and Onirik, three companies with long histories in different areas of expertise, but who have landed on a singular unified approach to developing a company’s “brand promise” that is also a performance promise at the heart of the company’s value.

With our alliance we can now, leveraging virtual reality, train-in new brand initiatives, directives and principles to an organization’s individuals and teams rapidly and at scale. Our customized and targeted virtual world simulations, called ‘Rehearsals’, enhance and accelerate expertise in on-brand decision making, problem solving and customer interaction in a responsive and risk-free environment. As a result of our perceptive research, scalable virtual world rehearsals, and supportive ongoing reinforcement, the brand promise is integrated into the purpose, thinking, culture and behavior of the organization and is experienced by its customers at all points of contact. And with our analytics tool you get radical transparency into on-the-job application that ensures changes stick.

Companies with our branding platform now have the ability to:

  • Test and solve business performance problems perceived as “unsolvable”
  • Develop synergies, insights, and opportunities that have been previously overlooked
  • Make successful innovation a fast and reliable process across the entire organization
  • Evolve and operationalize the customer experience to gain and keep more customers
  • Improve culture, productivity, job satisfaction, employee recognition and retention
  • Ensure everyone in the organization is on the same page – embracing the company’s greater purpose, fulfilling its Promise to the customer and achieving significant gains in performance.

The Transformational Brand Platform

SHR integrated framework allows our clients to effectively link purpose and strategic brand building to organizational behavior and engagement to deliver quantum leaps in performance and profitability.

1 Discover - Identify what’s True to Your Organization, Meaningful to Your Employees and Customers, and Distinctive from your Competition

  • SHR research dives deep into brand, strategy, financial performance, marketplace dynamics, history, culture and employee behavior.
  • We facilitate a workshop to a cross-functional team of leadership, management and frontline employees to discover, define and embrace the heartfelt ownership of a singular, durable promise - the Brand Promise.
  • The team also identifies four supportive brand dimensions, which describe the organization’s performance objectives. Leadership now has 12-16 actionable words - the Brand Promise and four Dimensions - that become the belief system and emotional heart of the organization.

2 Activate - Accelerating Brand Integration and Employee Engagement Through Experience-Based Simulations

  • Our cognitive scientists and industry experts create Virtual World simulations - called ‘Rehearsals’ - that expose individuals and teams to targeted brand scenarios and on-brand problem solving experiences to rapidly ingrain new behaviors.
  • These rehearsals leverage the brain’s ability to rapidly relearn through trial and error to uncover new solutions and implement new directives.
  • Areas such as customer experience, employee safety and organizational cybersecurity practices can now be quantifiably improved though targeted on-brand experience rehearsals.

3 Thrive - The Organization Thrives By Reinforcing The Brand Promise Every Day

  • Employees regularly receive targeted, bite-size exercises, through SHR’s custom THRIVE application platform that reinforce brand behaviors and principles and provide a safe, risk-free environment for problem-solving and innovation.
  • Their experiences are continuously analyzed, scored and shared throughout the organization to capture ideas and solutions and put the best into practice.
  • Progress and performance are seen in real-time through dashboards. Trend reports express how individuals, teams and departments are living up to the brand promise and dimensions while analytics give management greater visibility into what’s working and what needs improvement.

Simply put, the SHR process turns entire organizations into meritocracies of ideas from passionate people who are collectively focused on the Transformational Brand Promise to deliver vastly improved performance.

Who Are We?

SHR Transformation Branding has been serving leading companies such as Samsung, Ford, Volkswagen, IBM, Boeing, and Coke. for 48 years. As partners, SHR help organizations refine and define the company’s greater purpose through its Transformational Brand Promise – a promise made and kept by the entire organization which is experienced by customers in every transaction (or moment that matters). Transformational Branding is branding from the inside out, not outside in. People who are guided and united by a greater purpose, a mission that matters, greatly improve their work. When the mind becomes aligned with the heart, behavior becomes aligned and decision-making becomes streamlined. Teamwork improves and objectives and goals are met quicker and more efficiently.

WTRI (Workplace Technology Research Inc) have invested 25 years of research and millions of dollars in development in the fields of accelerated learning, organizational change, leadership development and performance analytics. Their clients include IBM, Rio Tinto, Amtrak, Merck and New York City Transit Authority. WTRI are best known for accelerating organizational change and the development of expertise for business using specially designed simulations contained in Virtual Worlds. WTRI simulations are "smart places" where organizations experience highly flexible “rehearsals” - not scripted business games. Companies can actually iteratively rehearse a future strategy, market play or project until they are successful with a specific financial or operational performance goal. This process aligns the teams and the thinking of the organization. And because they have “done it” and got it to work in the virtual world, the capability that is developed, and the new thinking, transfer instantly back to real work.

Onirik have 20 years of experience in the fields of performance analytics and duplicating experts and expertise for performance improvement in business. Clients include Virgin Airlines, Anglo American, ADT Tyco, Zurich and World Vision. Ninety per cent of organizations admit they do not have usable analytics nor a good understanding of the factors that drive performance. In plain English - not all capabilities have the same degree of impact on business results and they don't know what their people are doing nor should be doing. Onirik's frameworks and analytics tools ensure leaders and front-line staff are consistently doing, and mastering, the short-list of key behaviours that deliver brand experience, employee engagement and drive results for each role.

As a Gen Y myself, it is extremely important to me that I engage and work with companies who are value and purpose driven. Great to see Onirik highlighting this truth and supporting organisations to engage their employees.?

Such a fantastic offering you have all put together! There is so much power in collaboration. Seeing the synergistic capabilities and multi-faceted approach arising out of working together. Just to imagine how the VR and rehearsals could effect team culture and engagement: competence can sometimes be just a matter of confidence, which can be gained by no-consequence simulation, even just allowing repeated exposure. But the ability to use it on scale? Brilliant!

The disconnect between employees and the organisation’s vision really resonates with me when thinking about past positions. It’s easy to see how nailing the branding flows through to understanding, a clear sense of purpose and job satisfaction. Of course this increases productivity. This article demonstrates you have the ‘how’ as well which is very exciting.

It's really a great read Geoff, thanks very much for sharing. I think people do get so caught up in the urgent and forget about the important. The culture within a business is so important and its great you have products/tools that can assist companies with ensuring their culture is clear and able to be understood by others within the organisation.
