Since the beginning of this year, I have begun to feel a sense of anticipation as we look forward to delivering on our promise of an enhanced and digital user experience for our customers and our community at large.

For some time, we’ve been re-evaluating the way we conduct our business, our value proposition and revisiting the way we focus on our service delivery to our consumer, with our community in mind.

Within an industry that has for years been selling their products and services in pretty much the same way, well, I feel it’s about time for a big wake-up call. This is a thought that excites me, every single time I think of it, a bit nervous also! But again, if we’re aspiring to be disruptive by creating exciting changes, then the risks we’re taking makes sense.

As mentioned earlier, we looked again at our current business model. In an open and honest way, we concluded that it just wasn’t different enough, wasn’t engaging or even interesting enough. Allow me to let you in briefly on our inside story.

So my team and I held several discussions (highly robust ones, with lots of banging on the table) and came to a couple of significant conclusions. We believe that in order to make a truly meaningful difference, it has to be something bigger than P1, something that we cannot do alone. Something that can only be done with the help of our community and our customers, and to bring our engagement with them to a whole new level. In short, we must collaborate with our community and customers, to co-create initiatives that help to bring about positive change, in small and big ways, either to the community itself, or to society at large.

To achieve this, we set out on our transformation journey back in 2015 guided by a single purpose:

We exist for our community to co-create positive change
with the power of data, technology and collaboration.

Organisationally we’ve grown stronger, more engaging and innovative. We have been employing the art of design thinking in many of our future offerings (but that is another story). Moving forward, we must continue to improve ourselves even more if we are to succeed in our engagement with our community.

In the weeks and months ahead, I plan to share on the various significant changes we have been making inside the company, and my thoughts and reasons behind making them. I would like you to be my guest to a CEO’s perspective whose company is transforming for the future.
