Transform Your Life With Steve Jobs’ Design Principle

Do you know Steve Jobs? Well, who doesn’t? He is a pioneer, entrepreneur, leader, and a great mind, and we can learn a lot from his life and principles. One principle we are going to discuss here is his design principle.

When iDVD was under construction, a team of best designers met Steve Jobs to present their idea to him. It was an application that allows its users to burn media files to DVDs. The team was proud of the result they accomplished with the software.

When they showed it to Steve Jobs, he showed what he had in his mind. He drew a rectangle and said, “Here’s the new application. It’s got one window. You drag your video into the window. Then you click the button that says BURN. That’s it. That’s what we’re going to make.”

Simplicity is king. This is the rule that most entrepreneurs follow in their daily life. Their motive is to create solutions and services that are easy to use and access. In terms of customer experience, this simplicity is turned into an art form.

Then why complexity is still a part of most of the tasks of our daily life.

The reason is that we have accepted complexity and stopped noticing it. Sometimes, we are the one who creates it unwillingly. Even for some simple problems, we seek some complex answers and solutions.

Starting with one complex layer, we try to overlap the whole system with complexity. When one does this while scaling their business or organization, at every layer, complexity starts to become more and more complex.

So what should one do to avoid this complexity? Here are some tips for you:

Start From the Scratch::

When you are facing a problem, remember there is always a different angle possible to that problem. So to find that angle, start from zero. For example, finding the minimum possible steps to reach your customer service team.

Usually, while facing a big and complex problem, we try to avoid the available solution. But an entrepreneur or a creative person will always try to find a less complex way to solve the problem.

Eliminate the Distraction:

Suppose you are a salesperson and you created a PPT, a long, descriptive, and well-explained PPT with facts and graphs. Now, you are presenting it. But in the middle of the presentation, your target starts to lose interest in your presentation. This is where the problem begins.

Whenever you make a pitch presentation, make sure you are only including the right data that is required for that meeting. Usually, meetings serve only one purpose, and that is to talk about business. So try to keep the presentation only about business and eliminate all the distractive points.

So this is how you can adapt the simplicity to your daily life and make it more productive. It doesn’t matter whether you will apply it to your professional or personal life. It sure will give you the best result in your life.
