Sometimes ChatGPT puts words, names, and ideas together that appear to make sense but don't belong together.

In other words, it sometimes generates outputs that may sound plausible but are either factually incorrect or unrelated to a given context.

Those are called Hallucinations. ????

They happen when AI goes off the rails trying to please you.

To avoid it you need to prompt it:

Don't be vague or ambiguous

Avoid misusing scientific terms

No need to mention you are an AI

Avoid merging unrelated concepts

Don’t mention the knowledge cut-off

No need to mention impossible scenarios

If using numbers, always provide the source

Don’t invent random numbers, unless asked for.
