To become the latter, you focus on who and what you know, who and what you need to know, and push the right buttons at the right times to pursue success.

But the Sage was not intending to split the world in two – he was intending to make a point.? An effective practitioner usually needs some of both.? For instance, a pure subject matter expert may miss the subtlety of influence when collaborating with an auditor, an examiner, or non-accounting personnel.? And the true colors will eventually show for anyone working for only what they want.
