Transcendental Meditation technique as taught by a certified teacher is a very simple, natural and effortless way of letting your mind settle down into an extremely calm and wise state of rest. It will make it calm as it has a well-proven effect of letting your nervous system settle into a state of deep rest. This will automatically turn the notch down on your level of stress. And as you begin to feel more and more at ease in your skin, and stop fretting about all those innumerable projects and life’s little problems, everything else tends to click into place, too. That’s why TM is proven to have a positive impact on your blood pressure, immune system, eating habits, good night’s sleep, etc.
A nice, healthy state of impassionate vegetation? Nope. While making you calm, TM practice will also make you wise and efficient. As the dust of our daily neurosis settles, our mind will naturally become more open, clear and insightful. With TM, artists will become more creative, students more able and discerning, businessmen will make smarter decisions and sportsmen reach their full potential. You can go through hundreds of such testimonials and stories.
There’s nothing mystical, religious or magical about this process, however; the wisdom of our mind simply starts to manifest itself when given a chance. Meditation helps us to stabilise the mind. Unwanted thoughts getting repeatedly in the mind creates unnecessary stress followed by anxiety and depression. Meditation is the cure to these three symptoms affecting the mind deeply. When one close his eyes during Meditation, he tries to concentrate on those things he is well connected with and those things make him happy in real. In this way, he could able to forget those unnecessary thoughts going on in his minds for very long time and he could able to tackle all his problems changing his brain to think in a positive way.
Practice breathing exercises because breathing helps an individual regulate his own emotions. He could able to know his own strengths and weaknesses by this exercises and accordingly change his thought processes. Adopt self compassion because by this, an individual can gets self- motivated to carry on a difficult task in a smooth manner. It is the ability where an individual can turn the failure into success simply saying “Yes I can do it". Foster Genuine connection because Human are born social animals. After food and shelter, their basic requirement is having social connection which includes family, friends and neighbours. We can communicate and share our thoughts with them so that we will not feel burden.
Practice having compassion for others because kindness is the other tool to get protected from adversity. It is important to motivate other people in their bad times so that in return they can help you solve your problems and stay by your side even at hour bad times. Does meditation help to relax the mind - No. So the question why is meaningless. Now I know I seem to be contradicting all evinced to the contrary. We experience the world through five doorways. Seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, smelling. On account of these 5 doorways we have different mental states. Some mental states are wholesome, some unwholesome, some neither wholesome or unwholesome.
Wholesome mental states are always accompanied by calm. Unwholesomeness are always accompanied by restlessness. For example. When we have kindness, generosity, compassion, gratitude there is calm but this is very short lived. These states of mind are all rooted in detachment. Whenever we have anger, attachment, stinginess we are not calm. Again these moments are short lived. Meditation is the development of wholesome states of mind. By understanding the difference between wholesomeness and unwholesomeness, wholesomeness can develop. For example by thinking of generosity this can condition a calm thought of generosity or kindness. The objects of mediation can condition detachment and so calm.
This does not have to be done while sitting, it can be developed naturally in daily life. Do we have compassion for Trump? Then we are calm at such a moment. Do we have anger towards Trump then we are restless at such a moment? Do we always give help when help is needed? Do we give to the needy beggar or do avoid them? If we see the value of giving and give then there may be calm at such a moment. I will do it now “ I am now focusing my consciousness on my left brain “ I have trained my left brain to respond to that EGMi mantra, the left brain is the calm brain it generates logical/positive thought and inner happiness.
Many systems increase left brain use a bit and reduce use of the faulty right anxious/negative brain that drives all human made suffering a bit, a bit is not enough we need to maximise left brain use. Meditation can produce a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind. During meditation , you focus your attention and eliminate the stream of jumbled thoughts that may be crowding your mind and causing stress. This process may result in enhanced physical and emotional well-being. In this way meditation make you feel calm. Cheers!
