Transactional vs. Transformational Leadership

Transactional vs. Transformational Leadership

Leadership is not a title or a position it’s the process of adding value to others by believing in their abilities to accomplish greater things than they can imagine.

Leaders driven by a position or title are often transactional, focused on control and relying on a system of rewards and recognition vs. punishment to motivate their teammates.

Leaders driven by the need to add value and grow their teammates are transformational. These leaders use innovative ways to inspire others through effective coaching, empowerment, training, development, and mentorship.

What is most important a leader's position/title or their focus on inspiring others to be their very best?

What are your thoughts?

Love this Tamara. Effective leadership is not about titles, it’s about truly serving and developing people. When team members know their leader genuinely cares about them, it drives a high level of employee engagement and productivity. As leaders, it’s important to be self-aware of developing the necessary competencies and skill sets required to lead people.

'Command and Control' leadership styles no longer work in todays day and age, Empowerment is the only way forward. Thanks for sharing Tamara A. Greene, CM
