1) Great time management.?They are able to recognise that time is more valuable than money and they leverage their time exceptionally well throughout each day.
?2) Effective delegators.?They do not 'dump' work onto their staff but they delegate with a proactive thought process and when they delegate they ensure it's empowering for staff members and helps them to grow, it's not to 'get another monkey off their back.
3) They know it's not about them but in fact, about their staff and customers.?Too many managers talk about how busy they are and how they are overworked. A great manager knows that what really matters are the staff and will do everything to ensure they are organised in a way that means they have time for their staff and customers.
4) They know the difference between effective and efficient.?Many managers are efficient and yes they get the job done, but the question is 'are they doing the right things?' Effective managers are great managers so always ask if?'what you are doing is the most effective way?'
5) They understand peoples personal motivational triggers.?How many of us have had a manager who tries to motivate us by talking about what we can buy with the commission we will earn this month? I know I had one particular manager who tried to motivate me that way but I never cared about 'what I could buy,' I cared about how much value I could bring to my customers and how I could improve their life! Because my manager never spoke about this he never worked with my value system so therefore he never got the best out of me. We are all motivated by our own value system, a great manager will take the time to learn their team members values.

6) Great interpersonal skills!?Great managers know a lot of the job is PR and networking and even if they feel uncomfortable they will step up and be a face for their business.
7) Speaking of comfort, BAD managers will stay in their comfort zone and say things like 'that won't work' to their staff or 'we have always done it this way,'?but actually the only reason why they are saying that is because they are protecting their little world they have created for themselves and they want to hold onto things they learnt 10 years ago even though those skills might not be useable in today's marketplace. Great managers stay up to date with the changes of the world even if it means they personally need to get out of their comfort zone.
8) Consistency.?We are not what we do once and a while we are what we most repeatably do. The many managers I have worked with who say they do train their team or they do look at their marketing strategy but when I look at their consistent actions none of these things are happening, but when it comes to coffee or complaining about their staff, this is a daily occurrence. Effective managers know how to consistently invest their energy into the right things.
9) Successful manager 80% people, 20% admin.?Unsuccessful manager 80% admin, 20% people. I will let you think about this one.
10) Inspirational skills.?Successful managers know exactly how to INSPIRE their team members because they themselves are inspirational people. Very few managers look in the mirror and ask?'am I living a life that my staff would want to live?
