TRAINING YOUTH TO CHAMPION CLIMATE CHANGE ADVOCACY WORKSHOPS IN KENYA.

3Es Experience has teamed up with Climate Fresk-Kenya facilitators to organize a training session for our new Environment volunteers to be trained on how to facilitate a Climate Collage Workshop. The workshops work to explore Climate Change through a cause and effect relationship where the dots are connected through the use of scientific cards containing detailed information about climate change.

The Climate Collage workshops are divided into two; the kids version and the adult version. As shown in the picture above, we have had a session with children from various rural schools to sensitize them on climate change, the impact it has had in our lives and how we can adapt to these changes. This was just the beginning as we soon learned that adults needed the same since most people only have surface level information when it comes to Climate Change.

For a member to qualify for training, one has to have attended two or more workshops, a box that had been checked by our volunteers. Through the guidance of Climate Fresk-Kenya facilitators; Noemie Metais and Antoine Bonel, our new volunteers were taken through the process of being a facilitator, how to run a successful workshop, the required materials and information for a workshop and the legal process of acquiring a license to facilitate the workshops.

This training will enable our volunteers to be able to advocate, educate and create awareness on Climate Change to children, youth, institutions and organizations around the country, with a wide scope of knowledge involving all ecosystems and on how the world operates in relation to Climate.?These workshops are not only fun but also very important since at the end of each session participants are lead to come up with possible practical solutions to not only adapt to the impacts of climate change but also, on how to reduce or eliminate activities that cause it.
