We are in technology era and how training can be untouched from such a fast paced technological changes.
In this article we will talk about some upcoming trends in Training , mostly technology driven. The training organization and even individual trainers can no longer afford to ignore these upcoming trends -
1.Moving from Offline to Online/Remote learning
As more and more companies are facing fierce competition in their respective domain and under tremendous pressure of reducing cost . However reducing cost of the trainers also affect the quality of training in a way or other so companies are trying very hard to reduce cost of Travel and Stay specially when there employees are not limited to single geographical locations.
And the best solutions to do that is to go with remote or virtual classroom trainings. This gives you a lot of flexibility to arrange a training programs if you have the audiences in various locations and also saves a lot of cost. This also helps trainers to avoid long travels and frequent weather and place changes.
There are lot of free and paid tools are available to achieve this but free tools come with some limited features and most of the corporates have there in-house tools available.
2. Mobile Learning
Users are getting more inclined to mobile whether it is shopping, gaming , Chatting so why not training. Many companies has started mobile learning solutions , however having a light weight module for mobile is always a challenge provided the kind of quality which is required for training . More over having a good internet connection is a must. Mobile learning has its own challenges but kind of pace it is growing at , is unimaginable.
3. Fixed cost vs Variable cost
Bigger corporate houses are becoming more conscious about their fixed cost and they are getting more proactive than ever to outsources their training requirements to smaller companies and some even outsources their complete training department to training companies. And this is specially true when these companies are having smaller project with their customers. This given them benefits to reduce their cost by reducing the budget to these training and at the same time smaller training companies compensate for this by serving multiple clients at the same time.
4. Using freelancer for your Trainings-
As knowledge is not limited to individuals and it is not easy to retain knowledgeable people , more and more corporate companies (and even smaller training companies ) are relying on freelance or individual trainers for very short term projects.
When it comes to freelance or individual trainers , How to assess and understand the quality of trainer is always a questions but still it has seen a great growth in the industry in recent times.
5. Measuring results - Integrating assessments
As ROI is becoming a big criterion to do business now a days , More companies are looking for solutions where they can also assess the learning curve after the course. So companies are going for assessments either in online and offline mode after an before the course. And some companies even do the assessment before they actually plan for training programs so that it can be useful for the time and money what they are actually spending . Some companies have even came up with their own assessment platforms or they rely on thrift party products.
So if you run your business in training industry , you should take a note of these things to survive and grow in this business. End of day there is only one things which is constant in life and that is CHNAGE.

9 年Dear Sanjay... Well explained... I have few questions.. What is the main Objective of Training..is it to help people Grow or to Reduce cost of the companies..? Also, till now even by Human Interaction there has been not much Transformational change in people, it has always been Transactional. Then how would one expect Machines to bring Transformation..? We are moving towards being more Humanistic, then what would be the place for Virtual learning in the coming time...? What is the possibility of Experiential learning, making people Sensitive to each other and to one's own Self..? I agree there are benefits to reach out to more number of people through latest trends...but would that be enough..?

9 年Well summarized Sanjay Kumar! One challenge that small training companies (or internal training departments in big ones) generally face is the lack forecast from customers (internal as well external). I personally believe that's a big driver behind freelancing in training. As you rightly said, it is not easy to retain knowledgeable people (due to high retention cost I guess), lean companies cannot afford over staffing and idling. As a result, sudden bursts of short term projects leave them with no option but to take services from independent / freelance trainers.
