Training deep learning models on new Amazon EC2 DL1 instances

Participating in hackathons can be exceptionally beneficial for both your personal and professional life, but don’t just take our word for it! Meet Remco van Akker, a recent second-place winner in the AWS Deep Learning Challenge, which invited developers to train a deep learning model on new Amazon EC2 DL1 instances powered by Habana Gaudi accelerators.

Remco van Akker used their past AI medical use-case experience as inspiration to build Generate Synthetic-data for Eye Disease Cataract using DCGAN - which uses real-life medical data to generate synthetic data of Cataract disease images.?

“On the professional side, this hackathon helps me for sure with job interviews but it's also something I can be proud of and add to my portfolio. It shows that I can pick up new technologies in a short period of time and create something nice with it. On my personal side, I learned complex technologies so it grew my technical acumen and I gained more confidence to work on projects that are outside of my comfort zone. I worked solely on this project so it pushed me to be disciplined.” - Remco van Akker

Congratulations Remco on your impressive win!
