Training Captives

A serious impediment to professional career development is the “Training Captive Scenario” where officers receive training and certification that is not recognized in the broader market. While security service firms are notorious for this practice, they are not alone. Some in-house organizations do this in their own ways: failing to provide staff with certificates for the training they receive, not having their armed officers undergo state weapons training due to their being licensed under the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. This is a glaring example of the security industry being it’s own worst enemy. Careers are curtailed and talent leaves the industry.?
