Training Academy Debrief
Last month's Training Days were a resounding success. Machines were put through their paces, lots of info and tips on what they can do as well as operational, maintenance, applications and H&S. The feedback we've had is very exciting, making it all very worthwhile.
The three machines that stood out head and shoulders were -
Push-along Floor Stripper - This self propelled push along floor stripping machine has a range of different blades, one for almost every application. The blade oscillates in a 'figure of 8' motion rather than the hammer action of competitor machines. The result is a far greater work output and the machine can overcome more stubborn applications but by far the most surprising benefit was noise levels. The machine virtually purred through the work!
NFE 3395, 110 v Shot Blaster - This machine is very low maintenance and easy to set up. Unlike larger 3 phase shot blasters, it will work alongside a standard 110 v CFM type vacuum dust control unit. The residual dust was virtually negligible It's not self-propelled but it is really simple and easy to use and very lightweight so it will easily fit into a small van. It's great for small to medium sized areas, and comes into its own for jobs on higher floors without a lift. This will deal excellently with line removal because it has adjustable liners that will reduce the blast pattern right down to 2". Compared to some competitors' 3 phase blasters, it wasn't far behind because the shot is directed to the surface by a closed face blast wheel. Comparisons were made with grinders and scabblers, and it was clear that the finish that it left behind was really top knotch!
The NFE 5700 All Day Battery Powered Ride On Floor Stripper - This stripper will breeze through jobs you wouldn't attempt with a push-along stripper. It to has a multitude of blades for many different applications, from lifting vinyl to ceramic tiles, from lifting tarmac to failed screed, from vinyl squares to carpet, wood, laminate and more. It was clear its work-rate is phenomenal and with quick charge battery it'll easily complete an 8 hour shift on a single charge. The steering is hydraulic and the machine has front casters to make it really manoeuvrable in tight spaces and the blades angle and pitch are fully adjustable to give optimum results. The seat is comfortable and is fully adjustable as are the foot pedals. For safety the seat has a kill switch triggered by the driver's vacating it. Once again, noise levels were muted.
If you feel you missed out, have a look at the full range, we'd love to maybe nip down and recreate a test and demo for you on any particular machine that you think would be a valuable addition.
Finally thanks to the guys from National Flooring Equipment who flew in from the States especially for the event, the staff at Multi-Hire who worked their socks off and of course all the guys that attended, making the academies such a success!
