Trainer Tip of the Day: LO

LO stands for Learning Objective

If we google search for the dictionary meaning of the word LO, it means - Used to draw attention to an interesting or amazing event. “and lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them"

Task of the day: Let me give you a super simple task for today. Take a blank piece of paper and draw a line.

What do you think, will that above instruction suffice to get the same result from all the readers here? A definite NO. Reason being, there is no direction given to know how the line is to be drawn? What is the standard to be followed and how would we measure it? Isn’t? That’s right.
So, now let me re phrase myself. Draw a line vertically as given in the example below.

_______________________

I am sure, now all of us would have the same line drawn without a single deviation. Reason being, for clear results the purpose must be made clear. ?

Clear intentions and clear purpose begets clear results - Pharrell Williams

LO i.e. Learning Objective which means to draw attention of a learner to an interesting or amazing Training Topic.

Imagine taking your learners on a jolly ride. You all are seated in a car. You drive the car through various lanes and during the drive the learners have loads of fun. The day goes by and you suddenly stop the car and you ask everyone to simply get down without telling them the purpose for the jolly ride. They definitely had fun but did they get something out of this ride except for having fun then you created an experience minus the learning. Learning experience is created when the learners have fun with a motive. The motive must be set ahead of the ride. "What is in it for me ? " is a super important question a trainer must address while designing a learning module.

Similarly, Learning Objective is the expected outcome to draw attention of the learner and to make them connect to the Training Topic.
