#TraineeTuesday: Congratulations to Dr. Joseph Goody!

Congratulations to Dr. Joseph Goody, who recently was awarded the George A. Davidson Scholarship Award!?

Dr. Goody received an Honours degree in cell and developmental biology and a concentration in chemistry at Trinity Western University before attending medical school at The University of British Columbia .

During his residency in Psychiatry at UBC, Dr. Goody helped collect data for the pan-Canadian National Trajectory Project – Community (NTP-C, Le projet trajectoire national 1 & 2/The National Trajectory Project 1 & 2 ( ntp-ptn.org ) ) at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in BC, BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services . For his scholarly project he prepared a paper and presented a talk on antipsychotic prescribing practices and their association with rehospitalization rates among patients previously admitted to the BC forensic hospital. He was particularly interested in how certain antipsychotic formulations and types, such as injectable, oral, and clozapine, might affect rehospitalization rates. He presented the paper in several forums and the paper is currently under review for publication.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Goody received the George A. Davidson Scholarship Award from the Department of Psychiatry, UBC for this work. This award recognizes a medical resident who has demonstrated outstanding research and scholarly activity during their residency training.??

He recently completed his specialist training in psychiatry and will be working in underserved regions in Northern BC.?

He is interested in future research in difficult to treat populations such as concurrent disorders, forensic psychiatry, and chronic schizophrenia. We sincerely hope to continue collaborating with him and wish him and his beautiful family all the best as they embark on their next adventure.

Congratulations, Dr. Goody!
