It's worth noting that not all types of trains have flanged wheels. Some modern high-speed trains and urban transit systems use specialized track designs and wheels that do not require flanges. These systems rely on alternative methods, such as tilting train cars or specially designed tracks, to negotiate curves and maintain stability. However, traditional railroad systems, especially freight trains and older passenger trains, still rely on flanged wheels for safe and reliable operation.
