Train a Child
Today's devotional is from A Daily Taste of Proverbs
"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it” - 22:6.
There is a secular proverb that says, "It takes a village to raise a child." While parents have the ultimate responsibility for the child, many others will contribute to the child's welfare and training along the way. Therefore, whether you are a parent, teacher, immediate family, or friend, you have an obligation to help train the children in your life in the ways of God so they can find and fulfill their God-given purpose.
Into what youth are you investing yourself? If you aren't, it's time to find some and start doing so. And if you are a grown child, are you true to the ways in which you were trained and raised? If not, it's time to get back on track. Read what Paul had to say about raising godly children in Ephesians 6:4 and Colossians 3:21. and then read in 2 Timothy 1:5 how Timothy was a good example of not turning as an adult from the ways he learned as a child.
