Tragedy of a Moth - Bhavya Jain

Tragedy of a Moth - Bhavya Jain

Guys, I present my first-ever poem on LinkedIn .

1. "An art gallery would never be as unique as you,
Or so I thought, as a timid moth; the sunshine I'd imagined never outshone thy flames, cometh to my heart.

2. For all the symphonies I wrote for thou, cara mia, now is the time for an eulogy for my heart.

3. Ohh, it reminds me of the desserts I served, and the crumbs I fed upon, such is the reality that surrounds a dark heart.

4. The honeydew was never worth its weight in salt.

5. Crazy when I saw a forest fire and thought it would make a perfect bonfire, but as tragedy has it, it was to light my pyre.

6. The eyes are not for the day; there's light everywhere but if you close them in the dark, then what are eyes to you but blind.

7. The tags flow like a river, unknown to what it took dams to hold it.

8. What a tragedy to burn in the flames longer than it took to light it.

9. Ohh, to live is to live a coin; One day you're heads up, another your tail's cut.

10. And even in the end, the moth still dreamt of flames knowing it wasn't sunshine. Still wanting to burn, but this time the flames killed him a little too soon. Ohhh what a tragedy to know."

I've tried my best to decode it in simple sentences, but certain phrases and metaphors cannot be changed because they carry certain meanings and symbolic values of their own.

1. The poem starts by comparing someone to a unique art gallery. However, it takes a turn, saying the imagined brightness is actually destructive, like a fire burning the writer, portrayed as a moth.

2. Then the prose goes on to show how the love songs and symphonies change into a regretting eulogy.

3. Prose third to fifth simply throws light upon unbrequited feelings and efforts by comparing sweet expectations against salt and unrequired hatred.

4. Sixth line suggests that even though you have eyes, they're not worth it if you can't use it in the dark to see the brightest corners.

5. The metaphor of dam and flow of river is used to express feelings that are left misunderstood from one party.

6. In this prose the metaphor of flames and the time it took to light refers to the tragedy of living with the memories longer than the person.

7. Ninth prose states that, having emotional feelings are very unpredictable, your life is like on a double edged sword.

8. Last lines of the poem deals with the fact that even after getting hurt and getting face to face with the reality, the moth still wanted to proceed towards the flame that burnt him....

Thanks for reading.
