Is Traditional SEO Over? Generative AI in Google Search

Google is rolling out Generative Search features to it's gold mine(Google Search) and some SEO contributors are going nuts!

I started playing with SEO myself without any technical background. Back in 2016-17 (To be honest I don't remember the actual date, but it was close to 2016 :lol)

What Is This Generative AI Mantra?

Let me tell you what is Generative AI in search engine. This means searches will now provide AI Generated answers on top of web links :(

For instance, if you ask, "What's better for a family with kids and a dog, Bryce Canyon or Arches?" Google’s AI will gather key info and suggest follow-up questions to help you make the best decision

Why People Say SEO is Dead?

Some experts believe SEO is dead because this new change. Change is hard to adopt for humans. For sure many of the websites will not rank on Top after this update, so the next question is "What should we do?"

What Should We Do?

Instead of being dead, SEO is actually changing. Here are some of the key ways it's evolving:

1. Create Content For Humans Not Google: It’s no longer about stuffing your website with keywords. Think about what Google wants? Users/Humans. This means your website needs to provide valuable information that people/humans are looking for.
2. User Experience: Search engines now consider how easy your website is to use. This includes things like mobile-friendliness and fast loading times. (Again we/humans like fast loading times and mobile-friendliness)
3. Local SEO: More people are using their phones to search for local businesses. Hopefully Google Maps will keep showing "near me" businesses. Businesses needs to collect more reviews and built reputation for local searches to attract nearby customers.

The Role of AI in SEO

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is also playing a big role in the future of SEO. Tools like ChatGPT and GEMINI can help create content and analyse data more efficiently.

But copying/pasting from these tools will not help you attract human eyes.

For e.g this blog which I am writing took almost 1-hour of manual editing after generating multiple versions from ChatGPT (It sounds human right?)

Conclusion: Is SEO Dead?

In short, SEO is not dead. It’s just different/new/fast and I would say faster than ever.

And please create content for HUMANS not for robots :p
