Traditional Marketing Vs Digital Marketing
- As discussed, earlier the difference between both methods of marketing is the presence of the internet and smartphones but both have pros and cons. The ads on radio/television are unskippable they keep on reminding the audience about the promotion. But in digital marketing ads can be avoided by blocking or by skipping ads.
- Digital marketing is more economic as it requires fewer resources and can be done on less budget such as social media marketing and targeted email campaigns. This case differs from traditional marketing as printing postcards newspapers magazines requires more resources and takes more time to be delivered it is considered less efficient as digital methods are just under your fingertips.
- In digital marketing audience involvement and data tracking gets tracked right away. If someone visits your website or follows you or likes your content or wants to interact or give feedback or audience engagement all the information is accessible right away by the marketer. But in traditional marketing it takes time, and you must properly follow up, but exact data can never be known if the consumer read the flier or just threw it.
Which one is better?
There is no definite answer in this debate because it depends upon the demographic you’re targeting. If the demographic is above 50 then they are likely to respond to the ads as they tend to consume television and newspaper more as compared to the younger demographic, as they consume more digitally. It is important to know the audience you’re targeting before deciding which method to choose. Both have different purposes. If you’re opting for a global approach, then digital works better but if you want to target a local demographic then traditional will work better for you. So first do your research before deciding on the method.
