This Blog is written to understand the major differences between the Traditional Integration Approach and Modern Integration Approach.

That early day of 2000’s when Integration means implementing in-house Integration Middleware or Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) to connect/share multiple enterprise's applications and systems. Fast forward today in 2022, enterprises have evolved in sync with technological advancement and hence now they rely extensively on a hybrid model for Integration Development.

The evolution of the IT Industry in the last two decades has enabled the transition of legacy on-premises ETL Tools to Cloud-based Integration, from design-based Hub/Spoke Architecture?Model to Implementing API based Integrations, and setting up of systems connections to adopting the Integration Platforms as a service (iPaaS) becoming the key factor for Enterprises Digital Transformation and meeting customer demands. In effect, the integration technologies have matured from the traditional integration approach to the Modern Integration methodology.

These technological advancements have brought about a generational change in Integration Technology implementation, here’s a brief comparison between the Traditional and Modern Integration Implementation technology.?

As per the Cognizant and IBM commissioned Forrester Consulting report (2018), 93% of the firms face challenges of inability to connect in real-time and transfer data volumes while working through traditional integration strategies hence resulting in a constraint to digital transformation. Going forward iPaaS can be the next stepping stone to overcoming modern enterprise?integration challenges as it presents the ability to transfer large volumes of data while enabling real-time connections.
