Trading places: Aston Martin Aramco and JCB apprentices take part in early careers talent swap

Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team joins forces?with?Global Partner JCB to organise an?early careers talent swap?to encourage the exchange of knowledge and?accelerate?learning.

With a shared?commitment to innovation,?collaboration and high-performance engineering, Aston Martin Aramco and JCB ?are?driving?engineering excellence?through an?early?careers talent swap.

A group of?apprentices and engineers?from?the two iconic British brands?immersed themselves in each other's worlds for a 'day in the life' of their counterparts.

Taking place across two days, the experience kicked off at AMR Technology Campus, with talented?employees from JCB joining?us on 15 July for a day of insight into?our operations and?the world of Formula One. The following day, it was?the turn of?Aston Martin?Aramco apprentices?and?engineers?to venture into new territory, heading to?JCB's impressive?World Headquarters?in?Staffordshire.

Both days began with?welcome?sessions?and overviews?of?the?respective organisations, followed by guided tours of each facility, allowing a behind-the-scenes peak into operations.

The afternoons were packed full of opportunities to learn, including engaging workshops, thought-provoking presentations, and deep dives into specialisations such as electrical engineering.

By stepping into the shoes of their?counterparts, the apprentices were able to gain fresh perspectives and broaden their skillsets?by being exposed to the daily tasks?and requirements?of an alternative industry within the same area of expertise.

"The reactiveness and the speed with which they have to deal with?different problems is very similar to what we have to deal with in Formula One," said Will Beeston,?Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team?Junior Design Engineer – Engine Systems.

"It’s been really informative and it’s great to see a different engineering discipline and how they function and operate."

Not only was it a chance to learn and develop, but the experience also encouraged networking and?relationship-building?through knowledge sharing.?

"We've been able to see all the amazing research facilities and speak to some early careers apprentices?who are on similar schemes to us. I've never been able to have an insight into this sort of detail before, and it's?really interesting," said?Erin Murphy, JCB?Engineering Degree Apprentice, Innovation Team.

Our?early careers talent swap?with our partner JCB?is?another example of?Aston Martin Aramco's?commitment?to providing access to STEM education,?inspiring future talent,?and accelerating?the?professional and personal development?of our people.

Watch the video below to learn more about the initiative and what the apprentices and engineers got up to.
