TradeMutt Shirts for workers - Start the Conversation

At Sea Swift, Safety is our number one priority. We operate in some of the most challenging environments in Australia. The Far North, across both the Northern Territory and Queensland, can provide some of the harshest and most extreme conditions in which to work. Operating vessels and shoreside operations in this region can place huge physical and mental strain on crews, which is why Sea Swift focuses on both the importance of strong physical safety as well as mental health in everything we do.

The Safety team have been highlighting the importance of checking in with your mates and coworkers, how to identify potential mental health issues or challenges at work, and creating an open environment where we can speak out if someone needs help.

Several Sea Swift staff members proudly wear the TradeMutt ‘conversation starting’ PPE shirts in the workplace, to help open the door to chatting about mental health.

TradeMutt was started by two tradie mates who lost someone dear to suicide. This social enterprise makes eye-catching work shirts that are designed to start conversations that ‘cut below the surface level’. 50% of profits are donated to mental health counselling services for blue collar workers, and they champion the mentality that “every TradeMutt shirt in the wile is another reminder [that] you’ll never walk alone”.

With mental health as important to upkeep as physical health, Sea Swift is proud to be part of the blue collar community that is promoting the conversation which could potentially save a life.
