TQM

TQM

Total Quality Management (TQM) is a management approach that aims to create a culture of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction:?

  • Focus on the customer
  • Involve everyone
  • Seek long-term benefits

TQM principles include:

  • Customer focus
  • Leadership
  • Involvement of people
  • Processes approach
  • System approach to management
  • Continual improvement
  • Factual approach to decision-making
  • Mutual beneficial supplier relationship?

TQM originated in manufacturing in the 1950s and 1960s. It was adopted by many organizations worldwide, including Toyota, Ford, and Philips Semiconductors. However, TQM was eventually replaced by other management techniques, such as Six Sigma and lean manufacturing, which better addressed organizational goals in the 21st century.
