TQI QuickBits -- Nobel Nod, Qunnect Connects on a Series A, Intel Ready to Scale, And More News in Quantum
The Quantum Insider
Making Quantum Technology accessible through media, news, insights and data
It's not often that an entire industry feels like they won a Nobel Prize, but the announcement that quantum pioneers -- Alain Aspect, John Clouser and Anton Zeilinger -- were awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize for Physics felt very much like we were caught up in a communal celebration this week.
We'll have some of that reaction below.
Also -- some congratulations for Qunnect . The company announced its Series A, which gathered $8 million in funding. That round was led by Airbus Ventures.
Also Also -- I've written before that the UK has nurtured a strong quantum ecosystem. It's going to get a lot stronger. UKQuantum promises to be a united voice for the thoughts, concerns and ambitions of the growing community of quantum tech researchers and entrepreneurs in the UK -- and connect them globally.

Quantum Quotes
The Nobel Prize in Physics for 2022 went to Alain Aspect, John Clouser and Anton Zeilinger, three pioneers in the study of quantum information that paved the way for our current quantum tech industry. The quantum community sees this not just as a scientific prize for hard work in an extremely complex field, but also -- tangentially -- recognition of the revolutionary potential of quantum itself.
“It has become increasingly clear that a new kind of quantum technology is emerging. We can see that the laureates’ work with entangled states is of great importance, even beyond the fundamental questions about the interpretation of quantum mechanics." -- Anders Irb?ck, Chair of the Nobel Committee for Physics.
Ilyas Khan, CEO, and Tony Uttley, President and COO of Quantinuum issued the following joint statement about the Noble Prize in Physics.
“We at Quantinuum along with everyone involved in the quantum technology sector across academia and industry are thrilled at the announcement by the Nobel Committee of their award of the Physics prize. This recognition of the power of quantum information systems is timely on many counts, but above all is a wonderful acknowledgement of the fact that experimental advances underpin the quantum technologies revolution that we are embarking upon. Our scientists, engineers and everyone at Quantinuum are inspired by the work and legacy of Alain Aspect, John F. Clauser, and Anton Zeilinger as we look to bring quantum computing to reality for researchers and business leaders.”
Quantum Company-of-the-Week -- Qunnect
Qunnect -- a key company building the quantum internet -- announced its $8 million Series A in a round led by Airbus Ventures. But, based on The Quantum Insider's Intelligence Platform shows a history of Qunnect's momentum.
The Intelligence Platform offers the latest news and intelligence on companies with just a click of the button. This lets users get multiple perspectives on a company -- and its organizational history -- with a click of a button.
Quick Look
Government funding is an important -- and somewhat murky -- part of the effort to develop quantum technologies. TQI's Intelligence Platform is helping users make sense of this funding source.
