TPLF Declared a Military Takeover, End of the Line

TPLF has never been a legitimate government. It doesn’t meet the minimum requirement that entitled it to deserve neither the title nor the function of a government, like popular sovereignty, free and fair elections, and legally binding citizens' rights. Legitimacy demands above all the consent of the governed, in turn, the governed have the legitimacy to reject illegitimate authority. However, the tyrant TPLF seems to resist the will of the people and use force to retain power by all means. Thus, the people of Ethiopia are subjects of the TPLF group under a dictatorship de facto. Just like their kinds, TPLF tried and will try to maintain their positions through the use of fear, intimidation, indiscriminate killing, imprisonment and suppression of civil liberties. Just like Hitler, TPLF twice used indefinite emergency powers, disbanded all other political parties, giving the command to the military by persuading the people with deceptions of the so-called legal act. TPLF is resolved to crush dissent and the resistance of the people. TPLF will further limit the people’s civil liberties and withhold basic necessities as necessary. TPLF has frozen the regional authorities depriving control over their internal affairs, or affairs of their people. According to the current emergency act, policies and laws can change without warning, attacks on the regions can happen without any due process for rationality, putting individuals and families in great danger.

In the past, TPLF used emergence rule in Ethiopia to suppress or undermine opposition parties, groups, and individuals. The emergency act included using direct violence, imprisonment, discrimination, and killing opposition activists and leader or their associates. On the hand, TPLF counter-mobilized its supporters, illegally infiltrated opposition parties and the resistance, expanding unnecessary surveillance, using pseudo-legitimate laws and practices that criminalized or increased penalties for proper behaviors, adding administrative, and financial, or legal burdens to civil-society groups. TPLF planted plainclothes police in civil institutions and agents provocateurs to push the opposition into chaotic and undisciplined behavior, like planting bombs in public places, killing innocent people and blaming opposition group, and creating conflicts between people and ethnic groups. Furthermore, TPLF used strategies like scapegoating foreigners and outsiders for domestic problems, mischaracterization of opposition as terrorists, traitors, coup plotters, or thugs, heavily censored information or engaging in misinformation campaigns, and co-opted or bullied the private and government media into submission.

The Ethiopian prime minister has resigned, according to him, to accommodate needed change for peace. Typically, his cabinets would follow his footsteps and leave their post, provided TPLF will not use other disguising measures at the last second. The emergency act lacks the proper responsible government body, which is required in a rational civilian form of government. Anyways, despite the need for rationalization, TPLF group announced the emergency action without a civilian authority to observe its proper implementation. Thus, the current emergency act is just a transfer of power to the military under the disguised name of the military command post. By all analysis, the trend seems clear; TPLF preferred the military government than handing over power to another civilian group of any sort. This preference is a well thought, long kept secret among the old TPLF groupies, who are the majority and hold the highest rank in the military. TPLF stands for Tigrayan People's Liberation Front, and all members in TPLF share the same ethnic background.

Despite all the trouble boiling in Ethiopia, the people resolutely defy the current emergency act and demand their inherent human rights respected. The people have known TPLF for 27 full years and didn’t thrust TPLF. The people of Ethiopia required a regime change to a democratic system of government. Furthermore, there is no need for an emergency act as stressed by the people. The regional police and administrative structure are strong enough to keep the peace and accomplish the daily work of the people. The people strongly demand that the TPLF group immediately relinquish power unconditionally. The people would like to see the union of concerned citizens, civic organizations, leaders of all religious domains, and opposition parties come together and form a transitional government with time limits to transition the nation to a permanent democratic government.

It is clear that the strength of TPLF as a political power has diminished. It is currently hanging lopsided by its military wing and therefore, like a wounded beast lost its direction to reach the finish line. However, the group is known for its delusional thoughts, unexpected actions, and reactions. The group resisted advice offered by friends, wise men, family members, except one, hearing the echo of their demise on the horizon.Because of their demonic belief, words of elders, religious or otherwise does not register in their practice.

Hoping, our young unwavering braves, the Qeeros, Fannos, Zermaa, Nebrro and other Ethiopians yet to announce their name, are currently resisting and continue to resist against TPLF division between people and they are united to free their people from the yoke of TPLF oppression. Thier unity with the people, support by the people is increasing by the day that forced TPLF to hide behind the military. Lastly, I will leave you with a statement from one experienced, wise person in the field of successful resistance.

"the big protests are like the tip of an iceberg: the only thing visible from a distance. Did it look like the ousting of Mubarak started with a spontaneous mass gathering in Tahrir Square? The occupation of Tahrir Square was a carefully planned activity that followed by two years of work. The Egyptian opposition waited until it knew it had the numbers. Mass concentrations of people aren’t the beginning of a movement. They’re a victory lap, (Srdja Popovic, 2015)."

United we are strong. Long live the free people of Ethiopia.
