Hustle Culture
Hustle culture is the social pressure to constantly be working harder, faster, and stronger to make more and more money. In hustle culture, being busier always equals better. And if you're not working, you're expected?to always be learning something new, adopting a new habit/skill, or working?out in the gym. With hustle culture, you limit your identity to your?career, education, or earnings.
This begs the question, is constantly being devoted to working simply to make money really worth it? Research has shown that increased stress levels?lead to reduced professional productivity. To produce quality work, employees must achieve?personal satisfaction rather than just an increase in their workload. An increased workload the coupled with expectation to become extremely successful will?inevitably lead to burnout. The grind or the hustle puts value?on people who complete more tasks. This culture creates the assumption that the only value we have as human beings is our productivity and ability to make money.
To keep a balanced work-life schedule, there needs to be a separation between when you work and when you relax. People, especially Millennials should set boundaries, and put their well-being as a priority Take care of yourself both mentally and physically. This trend should not be a trend, norm, or a goal.
