Toxic Workplace Cultures: Welsh Fire Service

Catching up with some news this morning, another damning report on workplace cultures.

"One of Wales' fire brigades has been described as an "operational boys' club", according to one of two new reports released today." as headlined by the BBC... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0jn6qyp199o

I'd like to personally commend the efforts of Crest and the earlier report by Fenella Morris for her investigation into workplace culture and standards of management and governance in the organisation of MAWWFS. The report had particular resonance with my own life experiences, in particular this comment by one welsh fire service employee.

NFWS employee alleged favouritism and nepotism and describes place of work as a boys club.

The report by Crest 'was based on interviews with more than 350 current and former staff in the North Wales fire service, and more 400 in the Mid and West Wales service'.

This saga illustrates the damage and reputational risks organisations face when employee concerns and warning signs are ignored.

Welsh Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Govt comments on concerning findings.

I could not agree more with Jane Bryant about unacceptable behavours, there should be no hiding place for toxic culture in any modern workplace or organisation.
