Toxic Goal #4 - I want to please or appeal to everybody.

You may be a great speaker. You may be an expert in your field. You might have dedicated your life to a project. No matter how good or knowledgeable you are, not everybody's listening. That's not your fault and there's nothing you can do about the subjective nature of life except accept it. What you can do is work on your message: plan, prepare and practise. Focus on your relationship with the audience. After that, it's out of your hands.
