The “Tower” is NOT the Need of the Hour

“Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master.” Christian Lous Lange, Historian

A long time ago, the collision of various celestial bodies in space led to a massive bang. This big bang led to the creation of the fantastic universe that we are still a part of today! Home to uncountable objects and organisms, the Earth is a vast amalgamation of numerous elements that lead to the existence of?life.?

From learning to light fire by striking two rocks, we now use the same entity of fire to mold and create marvelous architecture. The previously worshiped and judiciously used forests are now the reason behind the existence of "development" in a city.

There was a time when people were comfortable being in nature's lap rather than being stuck with their electronic gadgets. They believed in meeting and greeting people more instead of enjoying time on various social media platforms. People longed for the actual humane connection rather than having some numbers on one's profile to show their popularity and compete with others.

Earlier, we had baskets full of bouquets and bags full of candies to wish our dear ones on their special days, but now it is just a "virtual file" with fewer emotions but mere pixels and MBs. Previously, we had albums filled with genuinely happy pictures from cover to cover, but now we have everything stored in a "secure cloud" somewhere. No doubt, there are many of us still enjoying the picture albums however, the ratio will be quite small.

The pictures clicked earlier were pious and genuine depictions of joy, fear, or amusement, while today, most of the things we capture are "posed to show others" what our lives look like. The absolute joy is now being skillfully and quickly replaced by the "numbers of likes and comments" a picture earns. A friendly visit to one's relatives has now been taken care of via the video conferencing features. Earlier, when kids liked to run out and play hopscotch or even lock and key, today's kids run towards their nearest mobile phone or any electronic gadget with visual aids to engage in watching videos or playing virtual games.?

All of these are taking place just because of something we built for ourselves. But, it was in the blink of an eye and with the ease of these features that we soon missed noticing them, replacing the "real" with the "reel".??

With technological advancements, the #emotional exchange between two people has now been replaced by a few taps on another person's website or chat box. The race of life has made everyone forget the essence of self-engagement and made the internet rule our lives.

Dynamic technological changes control today's globe. On the one hand, it is intrinsically related to one's life. It allows us to interact and flourish, but it has also constrained our mobility and alienated us from others.

Today's technological advances are constantly pushing the boundaries. They have made many previously arduous tasks much easier for us to complete today. We must not, however, allow this networking web to eclipse the real-life human scenarios that we create in our lives. Regardless, striking the correct #balance between our traditional and modern foundations is ultimately up to us and this is something we should be working more towards.

Internet use has increased rapidly around the world, with approximately 7 billion users of wireless devices that use internet technology among the world's 7.7 billion inhabitants, and limited usage among those under the age of 5. Furthermore, it is believed that the internet is the best thing that has happened to human society in recent years on a global basis! There is no dispute about the miracles it can do for us, but how we interpret this connection is entirely up to us. Whether it is the "global community" or simply something that will benefit us in most parts of our lives.

Well, you are reading this newsletter because the internet exists! As a result, we cannot entirely deny the integral value it holds in our life.?

Whatever advantages this shift may hold, we can surely be the ones holding it on a leash because we are the only ones who created it. It is totally up to us to determine whether artificial networking towers are the need of the hour in all spheres of life or if it is otherwise. Let us not allow the #metaverse to completely dominate our wonderful universe and its modest moments of joy.
