Towards Omni-channel fitness
With on-again, off-again lockdowns and gym shutdowns, fitness ecosystem has evolved in the last two years with at home experience getting better than ever. This has also helped users realize the ease of working out anytime anywhere with lower dependency on certain equipment, training support, et. all. As we start socializing and the mask mandates go away, more and more can’t wait to get out of homes to their gym studios and running routes. While this has definitely blown away expectations of at-home workout startups and behemoths like Peloton alike, the behavior hasn’t gone back full cycle yet. Having experienced both the convenience of working out at home and the discipline of training at a gym, there is an increasing trend in people choosing for the best of both worlds with a gym subscription as well as an affordable at home workout experience.
Needless to say, the troubles of last two years have made us all realize the importance of staying strong and healthy which is only going to drive up the spending on fitness and health. This spend is expected to be on a bunch of channels and not just one avenue of training. The most common denominator is the preference of users to choose a hybrid training model that includes strength training at gym, cardio outdoors, yoga at home, etc. This is also a result of companies opting for a hybrid approach to work letting employees work from both home and office despite the pandemic subsiding. With this change in user patterns, startups and established entities alike are launching products trying to cater to different needs in different locations for different formats of training.
As we at Spur.fit, tried to understand similar changes in user behavior, one trend that has been consistent over the last decade is the increase in percentage of users opting for a personal trainer. And as such, we set out to build a platform that offers a hybrid approach to fitness leveraging the power of technology and the expertise of a certified trainer. This approach has also made it feasible to help users with the right mix of training regimen catering to their fitness needs and aspirations without compromising on convenience, affordability and accountability.
