What to expect from this newsletter

How excited are you for the Farnborough Air Show?

Farnborough #FIA2024 is just around the corner and one of its themes this year is sustainability and innovation (both day four), which of course we’re very interested in. We’ll be joining everyone there to talk about hydrogen power, electrical aviation and more. Another Farnborough theme will be workforce (day five), dedicated to promoting the amazing work the industry is doing towards making itself more diverse. We're also be pounding the tarmac to get up close and personal with any of your beautiful aircraft you've brought along, so make sure to give them a nice polish for us!

7 tips for capturing stunning footage of your aircraft

Farnborough will also be a perfect opportunity for you to film your aircraft and post about them on social media. We’re available to do that professionally, but if you’re interested in doing it yourself (until you hire us!) here are some tips on how to make the most of your aerial beauties:

  1. Film during the golden hours: The soft glow of the early morning or late afternoon light can make your aircraft footage stand out. Light quality is vital, and the golden hours offer a flattering backdrop that’s hard to beat.
  2. Steady does it: Keep your shots as smooth as possible. Using a mobile tripod or a stabiliser can work wonders for avoiding shaky clips, especially when you’re panning your camera or moving yourself.
  3. Clean your lens: A simple tip, often overlooked. Ensure your phone’s camera lens is clean for crystal-clear footage. A quick wipe can make a world of difference.
  4. Try different angles: Don’t forget to experiment with various points of view. Try squatting and looking up, or getting up close on the engines and landing gears.
  5. Maximise your camera: Familiarise yourself with your phone’s camera settings. Using the manual focus or adjusting the exposure can help capture the aircraft in its best light, whether it’s highlighting the sleek exterior or the interior’s sophistication.
  6. Keep it short and sweet: When filming for social media, remember that shorter clips hold attention longer. Aim for dynamic, engaging footage that don’t drag on.
  7. Edit for Impact: Use editing apps to tweak your footage post-capture. Whether it's adjusting the brightness, trimming for the perfect length, or adding a filter, a little editing can go a long way in making your footage stand out.
