As an aviation storytelling specialist, you’ll appreciate capturing content that includes aircraft isn’t always the easiest. However, with Farnborough #FIA2024 just on the horizon, that becomes very possible. There will be a huge array of planes both on the ground and in the air - and shots of these will really enhance your content.

We’re looking forward to sharing some of the great green initiatives that will be on display. Keep reading to discover what Farnborough itself is doing about sustainability (and how you can film engaging content at the show).


7 tips to create engaging client videos at Farnborough

The airshow will give you a great opportunity to create plenty of social media videos, including testimonials. Not only do testimonials lend authenticity but they also amplify your reach and engagement. Here’s how to get it right:

  1. Find the right moment: Catch your person when they’re most at ease, perhaps after a successful meeting or while they admire an aircraft.
  2. Prepare intentional simple questions: Draft clear, concise questions that invite your clients to share their positive experiences and how you helped solve a problem for them.
  3. Use daylight wisely: Don’t film somebody with sun directly in their face - and even add a small light if necessary to overcome any shadows. This lighting is flattering and enhances the video quality.
  4. Minimise background noise: Find a quiet spot or use a decent microphone to ensure their voice is heard loud and clear. Remember there will be a lot of stop/start during the flying displays
  5. Use your surroundings: A segment with them watching or interacting with the air show in some way can bring excitement and context to your videos.
  6. Edit for emphasis: Use editing tools to keep your content brisk and engaging, only keeping the most powerful and catchy statements. When the final video is only 30 seconds or so, you’ll want to use two or three of their best sentences.
  7. Share with a strategy: When posting the video, tag your client (with their permission) and use relevant hashtags. These steps will help you create fantastic social media videos and deepen your business relationships. Or you can ask us to do it for you.


As promised, a look at Farnborough’s Green Journey

It’s wonderful to see Farnborough making such an effort towards sustainability with their ‘Destination Zero’ plan. They’re really setting the bar high for everyone in the events world, aiming to cut down their carbon footprint to zero.

  • Renewable energy goals: They’re on track to power everything with renewable energy by late 2024. They’re also putting money into solar power to make their energy even greener.
  • Cutting down carbon: By using biofuel, they’ve managed to slash their carbon emissions by a whopping 90%. That’s a big win for the environment.
  • Smart energy use: Their move to LED lighting and ensuring everything’s turned off when not in use means they’re not wasting power.
  • Promoting green transport: They’re encouraging the use of electric and public transport by providing charging stations and free shuttle services, making it easier for everyone to make a greener choice.
  • Waste not, want not: They’re ensuring 85% of event waste gets recycled, while the rest is used to generate energy.
