Towards the circular economy model: Burgo Containerboard
The implementation and development of the circularity model is a topic dear to Burgo Group, which is deeply aware that this transition requires innovation in production and supply systems. With the Group's increasing efforts toward a circular economy model, the presence in the containerboard sector is particularly strategic.?
The opportunity in recycling
The paper industry has the potential to become the backbone of an integrated and systemic circular economy, capable of generating value. As a member of the "4evergreen Alliance", which aims to strengthen the contribution of sustainable fibre-based packaging to lower the environmental impact of industrial processes, Burgo Group's industrial research activity is committed to "green" production.
“The Burgo Group has long started a production policy that combines the needs of the customers with those of the environment. The major interventions of recent years, which have seen the commitment of our Group to expand the production of recycled products, fit into this perspective.”
Ignazio Capuano, CEO of Burgo Group?
Recycling embodies an extraordinary development opportunity, seized by the Burgo Group with the conversion of the Avezzano plant to produce the Burgo Containerboard range.
Burgo Containerboard: another step toward circularity
Burgo Containerboard (BCB) is a complete product range of high-performance paper for packaging.
The Avezzano paper mill supplies an annual production of 220,000 tons of paper made with secondary fibres, i.e. waste paper from the sorted collection, packaging recovery, and processing scraps, which enables a significant reduction in the consumption of resources, production waste, and CO2 emissions.

Circularity meets quality
The values that inspire BCB inherently include respect for the environment, with a completely eco-sustainable product range.
The catalogue includes top-liner, test-liner, and fluting papers, all available with FSC? and PEFC certifications. Containerboard papers, produced at the Avezzano plant, are ecologically sustainable and guarantee solidity, moisture resistance, and excellent printing results, thus proving to be the ideal choice for all types of packaging solutions, from the agricultural to the industrial sector, from logistics to large-scale distribution.
