Tourniquets in a Backpack.  Sounds strange but intriguing right? 

When a terrorist blew himself up right outside a stadium during a city-wide attack, it really made me realize how many large event places we have here in Los Angeles.  How many thousands of people in one place, one moment in time, may be impacted.  By a devastating mass casualty event.   

Now, tourniquets in a backpack.  For less than $5.o0 per tourniquet band, you can provide potentially life-saving assistance to someone who has been gravely injured due to a bomb, a shooting, a car accident, or some other accident that directly causes massive bleeding.  Once trained, you can invest in kits that meet your skill level.

 Take a Class.  Take a Backpack.

When you purchase tickets to attend an event, you too can be prepared for an emergency by simply taking a class and taking a backpack where ever you go:

  1. Sign up for a class:  www.redcross.org or www.nsc.org
  2. Purchase a tourniquet kit.
  3. Now assemble: grab a small backpack, carry bag or purse.
  4. Recruit a friend & family member to go with you.
  5. Look & take note of all Exits when you arrive…at ANY place.

The items do not have to be expensive, the items have to meet the needs of an emergency situation you & your loved ones may end up experiencing.  Now let’s add the Stylish Survivalist twist:

  • Tourniquets
  • Flashlight with batteries -small, light weight 
  • Solar panel for cell phone recharging - backpacks have this now!
  • Basic first aid kit
  • Multi cord charging for strangers phones – you have a solar panel!
  • Emergency contact information for you & those with you
  • Snack bars
  • Medical emergency status information on you & those with you: allergens, diabetes, etc.
  • Headlamp with batteries

Now, keep going.  Keep preparing!
