Tourists flock to Mae Moh Festival 2022 to enjoy blooming Mexican sunflowers, music, and sports

Lampang Province, TAT, and EGAT held Mae Moh Festival 2022 to welcome tourists to feel the fresh air and view the beautiful nature amid the cool breeze in hopes of stimulating the country’s economy during the weekends of November 12-13 and 19-20, 2022.

On November 12, 2022, Mr. Chatchawan Chayabutra, Governor of Lampang Province and Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) co-chaired the opening ceremony of Mae Moh Festival 2022 under the theme “Mae Moh Bright Destination” to promote tourism and stimulate the economy in Mae Moh District and Lampang Province at the Commemoration Park, EGAT Mae Moh in Mae Moh District, Lampang Province.

Mr. Chatchawan Chayabutra said that Mae Moh Festival 2022 is a special occasion to “Open Lampang City” and welcome tourists again after Thailand got through the COVID-19 situation. The event will help stimulate the economy, create cash in circulation, promote tourism, create jobs and income, and build a reputation for Lampang Province. Additionally, the event aims to create happiness and impress all visitors, in line with the province’s vision “Lampang City of Learning, Connection, Creativity, Liveability, and Sustainability.”

Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit said that Mae Moh Festival 2022 under the theme “Mae Moh Bright Destination” is a joyful festival held continuously by Lampang Province, EGAT, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The area of EGAT Mae Moh is open to welcome tourists to experience beautiful attractions, especially the Mexican sunflower field at EGAT which was rehabilitated from a coal mine. The festival hopes to deliver happiness to its visitors from the hearts of EGAT community and Mae Moh District.

EGAT Mae Moh has the main mission of coal production for electricity generation at Mae Moh Power Plant to ensure national power system security coupled with taking care of the community and environment. EGAT has applied technology to drive Mae Moh to become a smart city, promoted beautiful cultural and natural attractions, and developed remarkable community products to help improve community quality of life.

The main activities held during the weekends of November 12-13 and 19-20, 2022 at the Commemoration Park include various attractions and fun activities, such as Mexican Sunflower Field, Tulip Field, Skywalk Viewpoint, Doi Ta Sing Mini-Cart, Survey Code Activity, Mae Moh Craft 2022, Mae Moh Pleasant City Exhibition, etc. For more details, please visit?https://www.facebook.com/maemohfestival?.

EGAT Mae Moh is open for visitors starting today until January 14, 2023; Commemoration Park is open from 6 am – 8 pm; Mexican Sunflower Field is open from 7:30 am – 6 pm; and EGAT Mae Moh Botanic Garden is open from 8 am – 6 pm, not excluding public holidays.
