In our #PeopleWhoRise segment, we celebrate our colleague Sandeep More who chooses to rise above the challenges of life and inspire others to stay fit and motivated at the workplace.
Why did you start running?
Got inspiration from my friends who were a part of a Marathon group. Started my running journey with Dombivli Pride run in 2017. Since then, I have participated in more than 150+ running events across India.
What do you enjoy most about running?
You get to spend time outside and there is no better way to discover a new place than by putting on your running shoes and getting out.?I get to meet people from diverse backgrounds having similar passions to rise above the challenge.
What is the most challenging thing about the marathon?
The battle you must fight with your mind to convince it to keep going makes it extremely challenging. So, participating in this event makes me discover and better my capabilities as a professional."
How do you stay motivated when you don’t want to run?
Being part of an active marathon group and having friends who enjoy running keeps me motivated.
How did the COVID-19 pandemic impact your running?
The COVID pandemic has not deterred me from pursuing my passion, in fact, it has made me resolute to adapt to the world of virtual marathons.

If you could give a single piece of advice to new runners, what would it be?
My advice to new runners is there is no age barrier when you start running. Keep it simple and slowly progress as you are competing with only yourself. Consistency is key and always listen to your body.
