Its inner sanctums contain the Thermal Protection System (TPS): a carbon-composite heat shield, which would normally withstand temperatures of more than 2500 degrees Fahrenheit (1377 degrees Centigrade). Consequently, it is outfitted with a high tech cooling system that promises to keep its solar panels and instruments in effective conditions despite high heat and radiation, protecting them from the scorching sun.
Not much at a weight of 1,510 pounds (685 kilograms), but the spacecraft hurtles through space at speeds unrivalled in human experience: 430,000 mph (700,000 km/h), a distance that can be transformed from New York to Tokyo in under a minute. Now, it has become the fastest human made object in history.
Historic Achievements
The Parker Solar Probe has already accomplished several historic milestones since its launch. The first probe to venture into the corona. In April 2021, it flew to the corona of the Sun thus setting the scene for pioneering research into that elusive area.
Fastest: It is the fastest object on Earth ever built by humans.
Magnetic Breakthroughs: The probe demonstrated the magnetic "switchbacks" that have been theorized for a while, wherein the magnetic field of solar wind rapidly reverses direction.
Recent Discovery
December 31st, 2024 saw the Parker Solar Probe make history at its 17th perihelion a close flyby which came within 3.8 million miles (6.1 million kilometres) of the Sun's surface. Real time data were transmitted the best yet according to scientists on solar wind acceleration and the magnetic fields.
The spacecraft has come through unscathed although it survived 1800°F (982°C). Today a beacon signal announced safe passage on December 31 2024 assuring scientists that detailed telemetry expected by January 1, 2025 will further illuminate the mysteries of the sun's corona. An early analysis indicates that it has made remarkable strides in grasping the essence of magnetic reconnection which is essential for the solar energy transfer process.

The Future Interpretation.
The Parker Solar Probe is destined to conduct 24 such close approaches to the Sun before its mission ends in 2025.
