Touch screen waterproof method
Methods for Waterproofing Touch Screens Water ingress can affect the signal judgment of capacitive touch screens, leading to problems such as a decrease in touch response speed, drift, and the appearance of ghost points. Moreover, it is very difficult to restore the original touch sensitivity.
When water drops fall on the touch screen, it will change the electric field coupling. The signal change caused by water drops is smaller than that caused by finger touch and is in the opposite direction, which poses a challenge to the design of multi-point capacitive touch screens. The following are the main methods for waterproofing touch screens:
Surface Coating Treatment: Hydrophobic materials or nano-coating technologies are adopted on the surface of the touch screen to prevent water penetration. When water drops come into contact with the screen, they will be repelled and slide off, thus protecting the internal electronic components.
Sealed Structure Design: The internal electronic components of the touch screen are sealed within an enclosure made of materials with good waterproof performance to prevent water from entering from the outside.
Waterproof Interface Design: The connection interfaces of the touch screen are specially treated to prevent water from intruding. High-end products are equipped with waterproof covers or caps.
Mutual Capacitance Scanning Technology (for Capacitive Touch Screens): For multi-point capacitive touch screens using mutual capacitance scanning, the signal changes caused by water drops and finger touches are in opposite directions.
However, additional waterproof measures still need to be taken, such as optimizing the scanning algorithm and enhancing the signal processing ability, to ensure accurate recognition of finger touches when water drops are present.

Waterproof Fans (for Scenarios with High-performance Requirements): In scenarios with high-performance requirements, such as industrial control displays, waterproof fans may be installed, which can not only dissipate heat but also prevent water from intruding into the internal part of the equipment.
