Resilient business model despite challenges
Hellenic Bank announced profit after tax of €160.2 million, mainly driven by higher interest income from Central Bank placements and debt securities as interest rates rise, as well as lower expenses. This growth is a result that underscores the resilience of its business model amidst a challenging operational environment.
The Bank touched on its commitment to addressing structural challenges and transformation remains on track, with a strong focus on digitalisation and efficiency enhancements. In addition, a surge in new lending activities took place during the first half of 2023, with new lending amounting to €647 million, marking a substantial 16% yoy increase.
Majestic Horse Therapy: Giving new meaning to patients’ lives
Hellenic Bank has been supporting the therapeutic “Miniature Horse Therapy" program since 2019, which provides Horse Healing (or so called Equine Assisted Therapy) free of charge to children and adults with physical disabilities and mental disorders. As part of the treatment, the trained miniature horses, Ellen & Mini, visit children’s hospitals, special needs schools and nursing homes, giving a new meaning to the patients’ lives.
#HBVolunteersChallenge sees Hellenic Bank staff serve selflessly
Businesses are the backbone of society and Hellenic Bank recognises the importance of social corporate responsibility, firmly supporting the value and tradition of volunteering. The #HBVolunteersChallenge campaign was organised for the third consecutive year and once again the Bank’s staff participated with enthusiasm. As part of the campaign, employees from all departments joined forces, giving up their own time and resources, to support important local causes.

Call to support vulnerable customers
"We support vulnerable borrowers with non-performing loans and urge them to work with us and find a mutually satisfactory agreement to settle their loan" underlined the Interim Chief Executive Officer of Hellenic Bank’s Group, Antonis Rouvas, reiterating that changes on the legislative framework will backfire.
