#TQM ?is not a one-shot program, it should be a continual activity that must be entrenched in the Quality Culture of the Organisation, for the successful implementation of TQM it requires 6 basic concepts to follow:
?1.???A committed and involved?#management ?to prove long term top-to- bottom organizational support
?In every organizations seniors leaders should serve as role model through their ethical behavior and set directions and create a customer focus with clear and visible values, and high expectations. Senior leaders should inspire, motivate and encourage all employees to contribute, to develop and learn, to be innovative and, to creative.
?2.???An unwavering focus on the?#customers , both internally and externally:
The key toa successful TQM Programme is to focus on customer needs and expectations. The organization should listen to the voice of the customer and give greater importance to the customer perception and satisfaction.
?As per the American Society for Quality survey user perception of quality is Performance, Features, Service, Warranty, Price, and Reputation.
?Total quality management will help the Organizations to meet or exceed customer expectations so that customers are delighted. ?4.???#continuousimprovement ?of the QMS processes:
There must be a continual striving to improve the QMS process. Quality improvement projects, such as on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, waste reduction, product realization, and inventory are good places to begin, these can be measured using tools and techniques such as Juran Trilogy, PDCA Cycle, 5S, Benchmarking, TQC, Kaizen, etc.
5.???Treating suppliers as a?#partners
?Developing partnerships with suppliers will help Organizations to develop quality products/services. For example, purchasing raw materials or services like automation, their performance quality is contributing a lot to the company’s quality outcomes. Both parties should have mutual respect, to produce a quality product/service both parties are required. The focus should be on quality and life cycle costs rather than price.
?6.???Establishing?#measurablequalitymetrics ?for the processes
QA team should work with operational and support teams to identify measurable objectives for each functional area. Quantitative data are necessary to measure the continuous quality improvement activity.
TQM is critical to Organisation success and sustainability in the business!!
