Total Beauty Network’s Recycling in the workplace Initiative

As of late January, Total Beauty Network have implemented an effective and manageable recycling initiative in the workplace. The initiative was introduced to combat the issue of office recyclables going straight into the waste bin, due to not having a designated recycling bin.?

Total Beauty Network’s Compliance and Certifications partner, David Presser said when he first started working with TBN a lot of people mentioned the waste system needed to be improved. As a member of the Health, Safety and Wellness committee David put his hand up to make the change happen.?

“When I first started there were quite a few people who said we should be doing something like this and since it has been introduced people have been happy about it,” Mr Presser said.

“I think everyone has really embraced it and it has been a really positive thing, especially seeing how much has been taken out of landfill and is being disposed of in those recyclable streams. It is fantastic,” he said.?

All around Total Beauty Network, you can now find a cluster of five bins specifically for: General Waste, Paper and Cardboard, Mixed Recyclables, Organic Waste and Clear Soft Plastics.?

The change was announced by a presentation run by David, explaining how the waste management system will be different, a run down of each bin and what could and could not be put into each one and where the bin stations will be located.?

“We had signs made in house by the design team, these signs show what goes into each bin and they are placed above each bin station, so it is really clear for everyone,” Mr Presser said.

Being a beauty company housing organic and sustainable brands, the recycling initiative reflects the values of Total Beauty Network very effectively.??

“This initiative reflects TBN quite well especially the INKA brand. The INIKA brand is all about being sustainable and minimising the impact on the earth through using natural and organic ingredients, and making sure all the INIKA packaging is recyclable, and it is also our plastic neutral brand, so it is a very green brand,” he said.?

“To have that brand and not be recycling at Head office means there is something missing. Bringing that up to scratch and making sure that we are recycling at Head office is fantastic, it really showcases we are not just talking the talk, we are walking the walk now,” Mr Presser said.?
