Tortured Hunger: Three Years Later

Civil Engineer, Exiled for 20 years and held captive in Greece for over a decade, my life embodies resilience, hope, and a relentless struggle for liberty and dignity.
Tortured Hunger: Three Years Later.
In Greece they have rigorously compelled me into a perpetual state of deprivation since 2020. In actuality, I could say since after my unlawful deportation from Sweden back to this country in September 2015. But owing to my own prior savings, I was able to procure some sustenance before all my resources were ultimately depleted in 2020, two years after becoming undocumented.
Although my survival has become entirely dependent on monetary Donations contributed to my Fundraising Campaign online ever since, but the support I received thus far haven’t been sufficient to enable me acquire proper nutrition on a sustained basis in order to avoid possible death by starvation while I maintain my presence outside the UNHCR office where I continue to demand justice, freedom and compensation for all the miseries they have so mercilessly put me through in this country for all these years in pursuit of their sinister political agendas.
Both sides of my big placard are now filled with marks to indicate the number of days I have been forced to starve outside this UN Agency since after the placement of my sixth shelter in front of their office on August 31st, 2021. All my previous shelters along with all my belongings, including clothes, blankets, food and money, have been vanished by the Police while in their custody. The destruction and vanishing of my shelter each time cost me approximately 500 Euros which was another contributing factor in draining my resources.
The placard alone cost me nearly 20 Euros which I had to acquire from a woodcraft shop distant from the UNHCR office, and if we incorporate the fare for the taxi, the cost could potentially double due to the significant distance and the surcharges imposed by the taxi service. Regrettably, I am currently unable to afford a new placard to mark future days, as the situation of forced starvation appears to persist without any signs of relief on the horizon.
I also require markers to draw those marks or write something if necessary, which is an additional expense that I must bear even when I have no funds for food. The markers I require are not just any type of markers; they are oil-based permanent markers, which are not only slightly more expensive than regular ones, but also difficult to find.
There is absolutely no help available to me in Greece, be it from the purported Humanitarian and Human Rights Organizations in the country or the civil society.
Everyday hundreds of people are passing by in front of my shelter where, in addition to my Placard, I also installed a big banner and another small placard to indicate help is urgently required, but if anyone stops by and offers any help, generally they are not Greeks. Even those who stop by most of the time aren't offering any immediate assistance; instead, they promptly depart upon receiving a copy of my leaflet, if available. Although some may indicate their willingness to assist later, regrettably, it remains unfulfilled.
Food aside, even when I am being left without water, still no assistance is provided. If it were not for a water tap on the other side of the street, I do not know what I could have possibly done to overcome this issue. However, given my deteriorating health situation, specifically the gallstone attacks that I suffer from regularly, the water I obtain from the water tap is not entirely safe for consumption as it also contains substances that contribute to the production of those stones, thereby exacerbating my medical conditions further, which subsequently leads to an increased frequency of gallstone attacks.
In practice, since my arrival to this continent in 2014, I have only had adequate nourishment for a period of three months. That was when I was in Sweden awaiting a decision on my Asylum appeal to them in 2015, shortly after leaving Greece in June that year. During two months of that period, I was housed along with other Asylum seekers in a School dormitory in a village near Uppsala where an abundance of food was available.
The only relatively small issue there was the kitchen or rather the dining room, which was somewhat distant from the dormitory. In situations of cold weather, snow, or rain, some residents may have chosen not to walk the distance and instead relied on the food they could acquire for themselves from the supermarket using the monthly cash assistance provided to them. However, the amount provided was not substantial.
Because if you were to visit the town, you would not have had sufficient funds to cover the tickets. They only provided the tickets when it was necessary to be present at the immigration office in Uppsala or when there was a need to visit a hospital for urgent medical matters.
The decision for my illegal deportation which was taken on the basis of the Dublin Regulations, despite its suspension for Greece at the time, was promptly made. I spent the subsequent month in a deportation camp where the food quality was seriously degraded, but no one had to go hungry.
Years of forced starvation in Greece have been taking a toll on my health and body every day. Despite being 37-years-old, I weigh less than 30 kilos. The pictures captured on June 09th, 2023, depicting my emaciated body, are truly terrifying. Certainly, the only sustenance I might be able to acquire is biscuits, which is only possible through charitable donations whether received online or in person. That is how I have managed to persevere until now. I have genuinely forgotten the sensation of indulging in proper food, as it has been years since I last experienced it.
Those, of course, are merely the least of my daily problems as there is also no hygiene services, electricity, or water provided at my shelter. They do not even permit me to use hygiene services in the nearby hospitals . For the lavatory, I must traverse a distance of approximately 200 meters on each occasion to reach a small, verdant area nearby. Owing to chronic hunger and a lack of vitality, I occasionally need to take breaks, usually 6 to 7 times, just to cover this short distance and return to my dwelling, which is located beside a bustling thoroughfare where I am unable to find any respite from the incessant cacophony of traffic, particularly motorcycles and drivers who enjoy blaring loud music from their cars.
The situation persists day and night. There are also groups of passersby who talk loudly even during untimely hours of the night which is another factor in disrupting my sleep when I am trying to get some.
Additionally, the situation recurring every day during the early hours of the mornings due to the irritating sounds produced from unloading and transferring of materials, mostly grocery items, from two to three trucks that come one after another to bring fresh items for the Bazaar Supermarket adjacent to the UNHCR building right in front of my shelter.
If I don’t have the funds to afford lodging for a night where I could freshen up and clean my attire, it is likely that I would face the same predicament for an entire season. This situation might even persist into the subsequent season if there are no individuals willing to offer their assistance.

Even in the event of medical emergencies , which may arise particularly as a result of Gallstone attacks, no assistance will be provided. The timing of these attacks is uncertain. Sometimes, they occur during the late hours of the night. However, even if I plead with the receptionist at the UNHCR building, they will not arrange for an Ambulance regardless of the severity of the situation. I have not had any phone credit for emergency calls for over a year, primarily due to a lack of funds.
My shelter, which is partially protecting me from various elements such as the sun, dust, rain, and water, now requires an additional covering that I am unable to acquire due to lack of funds. Considering this situation, I remain vulnerable to insects, particularly ants. If they manage to infiltrate, it becomes a significant issue that I must confront. Once they enter, they quickly establish their dominance, turning the shelter into their own territory. Furthermore, many of these ants have a biting nature, which further exacerbates their presence.
Only in winter, I might not have much of this problem, for the rest of the year, if I do not have a remedy for it, then it would be like being without a shelter. That is how severe the situation may become when it comes to the ant infestation. The solution I acquire, which generally comes in the form of a 200-gram powder pack, tends to last for about a month and a half. However, after that, I must obtain a new one.
It is essential to spray the powder not only within a 2 to 2 meters square base inside my shelter, but particularly in the area in front of it where it is accessible. This has to be done regularly, as the efficacy of the powder diminishes over time indoors and is susceptible to water washing it away or the wind displacing it outside. Additionally, it would be removed when I clean the area. While a sticky gel is an alternative for outdoor use, it is costlier and unsuitable for use within my shelter in this scenario.
Overall, they have been tormenting me for the past ten years under the harshest conditions imaginable. Despite being well aware of it, none of the aforementioned organizations nor the local media want to report on this ongoing atrocity in Greece. They have effectively taken part in the collective cover-up by the entire country. It is crucial that my dire situation is widely discussed not just for the sake of truth and the betterment of humanity, but also for our collective consciousness. We must remember that where one person goes, we may all end up going.
In view of the foregoing, it should be evident to you that my ability to survive in this exceptionally inhospitable environment is truly impractical without the assistance of sympathetic benefactors, primarily from foreign countries given the limited support I have received domestically.
Hence, I humbly request that you kindly consider the gravity of my circumstances and contemplate making a monetary contribution, as it would be of immense assistance to my survival.
Kindly direct your Donations to my fundraising campaign here and support a Refugee directly.
Furthermore, kindly ensure to assist and promote the campaign by circulating it through various channels such as social media, email, text messages, and other possible means and urge others to do the same.
It would also be greatly appreciated if you could kindly offer your support to my online Petition.

If you have the ability to contribute to the promotion of this cause, it would serve as a substantial demonstration of support for this unjust struggle for justice and freedom that I have endured for the past ten years.
On another note, I implore individuals who possess connections to the press or media outlets, or those who work as reporters or journalists themselves, to kindly assist in revealing these ongoing acts of savagery in Greece. By doing so, we can help ensure justice prevails instead of allowing their malicious agendas to reign supreme.
Lastly, I would like to reiterate my sincere gratitude and respectfully request that you make a decision that aligns with the betterment of history regarding this matter.
Please act now.
