Toronto Distillery District and The Fourth Industrial Revolution

My daughter is working on a project and showed me this photo of the Distillery District in Toronto from the Victorian era and it reminded me of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is a blurring of lines between the physical, digital, and biological worlds. Simply put, the Fourth Industrial Revolution refers to how technologies like artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles and the internet of things are merging with humans’ physical lives.

I have the unique opportunity to work along side some of the great companies that are balancing this transition to Industry 4.0. ?Many of them are capitalizing on advanced technologies and helping drive their businesses forward while moving towards acting in more socially responsible ways, particularly in the area of environmental stewardship.

The company I work for has a site in the Distillery district and I believe is a pivotal piece of the Fourth Industrial Revolution journey. ?While we are starting to see organizations adhere to a broader sense of purpose beyond just making money, although profit is still omni-important, we have a long way to go. ?I wanted to share this picture because of its historical value and also because it made me ponder where we will be in another 100 years.

Cheers,

Dan
