Torch up your first step by yourself. Let the story begin.
The best thing my school gave me was a stage.
I still remember that cemented-up trailed platform, in one corner of the assembly ground, that stood firmly with pride, on steps around it, in four of its corners.
Stepping onto it felt like a real glare of glory.
Those vivid experiences brightened up whenever I took onto the stage even today.
I was never a speaker; however, I had ideas to share.
And I wanted people to listen.
It was in my 8th standard when I actually tried to create an opportunity for myself.
"January, 23rd, 2013"
Like every other year, the Republic Day speech was supposed to be delivered by one of the good-speaking students of the school, and this time, it came to the monitor of our class.
Of course, she was the most well-spoken person in the class and had been on stage several times. My heart sank as I ruled out even without a trial.
I already had made up my mind to speak this year.
So, I tried the only option left.
I went to the in-charge himself, with her, initially bearing that tug of war was difficult, but though she had had several opportunities like this before it was not a big deal for her.

The in-charge agreed."I don’t have a problem with the speaker, until and unless the delivery is excellent. I hope you make a note of that."
With utter, nervousness, I said “Yes sir” I took umpteen attempts to write and rehearse and finally went on to that stage.
The stage, people, and podium witnessed that..."
Not so perfect speech", however, applauded and patted my back...
But that’s how it all took a lift-off.
From a quite-mouthed child to an inter-school and zonal level rank holder,
I traveled a huge distance. I don’t believe in talents that come naturally.

1 年Interesting! I like the way you put up the scenario and the best was that the story started revolving around the mind while reading this! Keep it up MANISHA . ???
