TopRank News: An SEO Extravaganza

Marketers have been engaged in a tug-of-war with search algorithms for two decades now. In the early ‘00s, most search engines used keywords to build their results. So marketers stuffed keywords into their content (whether they fit the search intent or not).

Then it was the quality and quantity of backlinks that mattered most. So some unscrupulous folks built whole networks of bogus link exchanges.?

Now, thankfully, algorithms are evaluating content based on how useful, authoritative and comprehensive it is. Marketers don’t have to pull against the search engine anymore: We can pull together to get great content to the people who actually want to see it.?

Modern SEO is about building a content ecosystem aimed at specific search intent. It’s taking high-quality content, and applying the tags and crosslinking that help search engines see its value.
