Recently, under the guidance of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce and hosted by the Shenzhen National High-tech Industry Innovation Center, the seminar "Shenzhen Builds a Global Fashion Capital and Promotes Fashion Consumption" was held on time. Representatives from 10 fashion industry associations (including city cosmetics) were invited to the meeting. At the meeting, the leader of Shenzhen National High-tech Industry Innovation Center introduced the background of the meeting. He said that in recent years, the government has been attaching great importance to the development of Shenzhen’s fashion industry. In particular, this year’s report specifically proposed to create a “global fashion capital” like New York. , London, Paris, Milan and other global fashion capitals. How can we catch up with these fashion capitals that have been developing for hundreds of years? This is worth discussing. In the past, we focused more on the development of the fashion industry from the perspective of production and import. In fact, in addition to the industrial side, the consumer side is also very important. There are also consumption-related aspects such as fashion culture, fashion brands, and fashion media. , these are all aspects that need to be paid attention to and studied.

Subsequently, representatives of major industry associations expressed their views on this background. Among them, representatives of the cosmetics industry association mentioned that in the cosmetics industry, the situation is not optimistic. Due to various reasons such as policies, the number of cosmetics companies in Shenzhen has dropped from a few hundred to less than 150 at present. There are some problems:

In terms of the agglomeration of corporate space, there is a lot of research and development and experimental work in the cosmetics industry, which involves the issue of sewage discharge. Shenzhen's environmental impact assessment is very strict, which is very restrictive for the development of the cosmetics industry.

Regarding the issue of vicious competition in the detection market, Shenzhen now has strict cosmetics registration and testing controls. Cosmetic products must undergo registration testing before being launched on the market, such as anti-hair loss, whitening, blemishes and other efficacy tests. Some of the testing institutions have experienced vicious price competition, which has affected the interests of many testing institutions that uphold a fair and impartial attitude, and has also caused the cosmetics industry to slowly lose trust in the testing market.

Many cosmetics companies have relocated, and there are few new cosmetics companies settling in. Shenzhen's subsidies for cosmetics companies are not ideal enough, leaving little incentive for companies to settle in or stay.

Regarding talent issues, it is not just the lack of formula R&D talents, but also the lack of sales and other talents. Formula R&D and sales talents are indispensable talents in the cosmetics industry. Formulas determine the quality of cosmetics, and sales determine the distance between products and users.

In terms of the organization of industry associations, due to long-term neglect, the cosmetics association has certain limitations in management and organization. It has not played a practical role in assisting the growth of the industry and is on the verge of dissolution in the long run. This also leads to companies not trusting the organization and staying on the sidelines.

Regarding the issue of consumer business districts, Shenzhen lacks the planning and construction of joint fashion consumer business districts with upstream, middle and lower reaches and local fashion brand gathering places, such as boutique stores and cosmetics shopping streets.

Of course, Shenzhen’s cosmetics industry also has many advantages for development:

1. It has geographical advantages. Guangzhou is the national cosmetics production center, and Shenzhen is close to Guangzhou, which helps to quickly and accurately grasp the beauty industry information and cosmetics production technology; Hong Kong occupies an important position in Asia's cosmetics trade, and Shenzhen is close to Hong Kong. Help further develop the market.

2. Shenzhen has a high coverage rate of consumer groups. Among them, young consumers born in the 1990s and 1995s contributed more than 90%. In addition, Shenzhen has cultivated a large number of high-end product consumers in the past, and these are important potential customers in the fashion consumer industry.

3. In the industrial business district, Shenzhen has many high-quality raw material companies, and Shenzhen has mature technology and experience in the cross-border field of "cosmetics + electronic technology".

In the future, regarding the development of the cosmetics industry in Shenzhen, representatives from the Cosmetics Association proposed:

1. The Shenzhen Cosmetics Industry Association, which is under preparation, hopes to gain the attention and attention of the government. Provide implementation support in terms of office space, activity space, small and medium-sized enterprise taxation, and industry policies.

2. It is recommended to pay attention to brand support, especially to support certain brands in a planned and targeted manner, and then drive the development of other brands to break the existing atmosphere of the industry.

3. Strengthen corporate exhibition management and pool the power of Shenzhen brands instead of “each exhibitor has his own”.

4. Actively promote the cross-border integration of the fashion industry and achieve cross-border linkage of products.
