Running totals, also known as cumulative totals, are a powerful analytical tool in Power BI that provide insight into the accumulation of a measure over time or another dimension.


Use Cases-


1. Sales and Revenue Tracking


  • Use Case: Tracking cumulative sales or revenue over time to see growth trends and seasonal patterns.
  • Example: Displaying cumulative monthly sales to visualize the total sales progression throughout the year.


2. Expense and Budget Monitoring

  • Example: Showing a running total of expenses to track how much of the budget has been utilized.
