I am often asked for my advice by the senior leaders I support; Chief Customer Officers, COOs and Directors from across Operations and Customer focussed functions and we have previously issued some top tips for CV writing which you can find here and have a variety of Webinars, Reports and Impact Room features which you might find helpful.
For those of you who are reading this, you will no doubt see LinkedIn as a tool for your work, business or individual profile. Like CV's, I look at alot of individual LinkedIn profiles and it is true that most could do some with some work.
So what can you do to help your profile attract more of what you want heading your way?
Here are my Top Tips For Your LinkedIn Profile:
Tip 1: Header
Use your background header. The header is the strip behind your main photo (PS if you haven't uploaded a photo already then do it now!).
Try and find an image and or some word content to go in the image that supports you, what you stand for, or what you are looking to do.
Tip 2: The Future
Often when we speak with individuals considering their next move, they are all often focussed on what they do or have done.

If you are looking to progress, achieve your aspirations and attract that next step for you, then it is time to focus on the future and not just the past.
Think about the role you want next and see how you can incorporate that into your profile.
Tip 3: Who do you ideally want to attract to your profile?
If you want to work for a particular type of business, let's say, a fast growth, or perhaps customer focussed, or, a business with sustainability at its heart. Then have a think about how you represent yourself and what is important to you, use images, content or your 'About' section to try and attract the types of companies and roles you are most interested in.
Tip 4: What makes you special?
How you deliver, why you do it and what you deliver is what sets you apart from the next individual who on paper, or on screen, is doing a very similar role to yourself.
Allow yourself to stand out and talk more to the how, why and what as opposed to listing a list of duties and responsibilities.
