Top Tips for Maximising Engagement on Your LinkedIn Posts!

Engagement, one of the many buzzwords used in the digital and social media world today. They say content is king but?engagement?is queen, one goes hand in hand with the other and without engagement on your content you are unlikely to meet the masses you desire. In simple terms engagement as a driver of influence is how you engage with your audience, the people who comment, like or share your content.

Many of the current metrics for engagement on social media don’t take into account the one major piece I feel is missing in a lot of people's strategies. Many of the profiles I see on LinkedIn from businesses and influencers alike are not responding to their audience, the conversations are one-sided and they’re missing a big opportunity to build engagement on their posts, without engagement on your content you will struggle to move your business profile into the top 1% on LinkedIn which is going to vastly improve how many people are seeing your content on the platform.

Tips for responding to your followers:

  • Don’t respond to all the comments at once, stagger your replies to ensure the conversations continues to flow
  • Pose a question (Use open-ended questions)?
  • Clarify any points about the post
  • Tag the responder @ in your reply
  • Use emojis in your reply (Just make sure you are not using too many!!)
  • Thank the responder for their comment?
  • Ask your audience what content they like to consume

Post content regularly

As with most platforms, LinkedIn's algorithm rewards those who post regularly. Are you someone who plans their posts the week before or the day before you plan to post? Just having a presence on LinkedIn isn't enough anymore, just like having a website alone is not going to draw people in. Having a clear strategic content plan in place is a must, I’d suggest planning 1 month ahead and breaking this down into content blocks.

Create themes for each month of the year, by posting strategically and in a planned manner, you can share more structured information with your audience and create better engagement for your LinkedIn posts.?

Hot Tips for content creation:

  • Ensure it's professional?- triple check your work, ensure there are no spelling or grammatical errors, even the smallest mistakes can put a dent on your credibility.?
  • Have you formatted correctly?- Using short, sharp, precise and common vocabulary is the key to nailing your online?content. Remember you want to connect with your audience to keep them engaged and consuming all of your content.
  • Does it resonate with your audience?- sometimes we try to overcomplicate our industries, we’re experts in our field, so we like to go into real detail when explaining certain topics. But ask yourself, have you ever started reading a piece of content and felt totally overwhelmed from the get-go? Content that goes straight over your audience's head will not be engaging, keep that in mind and always write content that is at a level your audience will understand.

Once you have your content plan ready to go, here are some ideas for content that will help engage your audience. Keep in mind that you should always have variety in the types of posts you create so make sure to include the following:?

  • Videos and live content?- Videos in general usually generate higher engagement when compared to text only or image posts, Live Videos are a great way to share your content and expertise and allow your audience to ask questions in real time and engage with you in a live environment which is a great way to bring people to your content.
  • Try different formats?- Keep your content fresh and fun, try using word pictures, polls, personal stories, testimonials, interviews and question time to engage your audience in a variety of fresh and fun formats.
  • Leverage other people's content?- If you're like me then you love to share your point of view on other people’s content, if you see something you love and think your audience will love it too then share it with your audience, make sure to include your viewpoint when you do! This will not only engage your audience but further cement your message and expertise in your field.?
  • Share your testimonials?- What better way to showcase your business than to leverage a post from one of your happy clients, this a great way to build your reputation, trustworthiness and will provide social proof of your expertise in your chosen field.?
